Skoda Superb receives top note in long-term test in Germany – Skoda Fabia long-term test not so top!

Just last week (28.03.2013) The Skoda Superb completed the 100 000 km long-term endurance test performed by the German automotive magazine "Auto Bild" (issue No. 13), finishing it with the German ‘Note Eins (1)’, which is equivalent to the grade "A" and therefore considered the best mark possible to achieve.

The German car magazine had 24 months time to take the qualities of the vehicle under the magnifying glass. The Skoda Superb proved itself over the whole duration of the test as an absolutely reliable companion.

The 100.000 kilometres in the Skoda Superb did not witness any irregular stops, and the service station was only visited for regular inspections, repairs are hardly worth mentioning. That was the conclusion from the automotive professionals from Auto Bild.

No notable signs of wear were found after 100 000 km. This is true for engine, transmission, steering, suspension and brakes both. The test car has managed the 100,000 kilometers with the first set of brake discs.

With this excellent rating the Skoda Superb positioned itself among the top ten in the reliability rankings in "Auto Bild", which includes now 95 cars.

Our long-term Skoda Fabia in Egypt seems not to be that lucky like the Skoda Superb 2.0 TSI from Auto Bild. First, because our Fabia has a different engine, namely the 1.6l gasoline engine. Secondly, because it is currently undergoing an irregular visit to the Artoc Auto service center in Kattameya (Cairo) due to an oil pressure warning signal, which was displayed on the dash-board of our Fabia long-termer at 83.000km on its clock.

Besides the fact of not offering any courtesy car to reach and get away from the recently-opened state-of-the-art 3S Skoda Egypt Artoc Auto service center, which is located in a remote part of Cairo and not easy to reach from downtown, we were confronted with a certain engineer called Mohamed Atteya, which did not convince us at all with his limited communications skills and technical background.

Not offering any courtesy cars or any customer shuttle service is something which Skoda Egypt Artoc Auto should consider immediately as all the other renowned brands (e.g. Mercedes Egypt, BMW Egypt - Bavarian Auto Group, etc.) around them in the same Kattamey area offer those services.

The only positive experience so far with the Artoc Auto service center, were the competent comments and evaluation of the Service Center Manager, Eng. Mohamed Ragab, and the pleasant welcoming and customer-friendly approach of Mr. Hussein El Wardany.
