Soma Bay and Mercedes Benz Egypt partner up for the MercedesTrophy

In its 8th round, the internationally admired MercedesTrophy golf tournament kicked off its final qualifying round at the Palm hills golfing club on the 9th of April 2016, following a series of qualifying events that were held across Cairo, Giza and Alexandria taking place at Egypt’s leading golfing clubs including the Alexandria Sporting club, and the Mirage City golf club, where the qualifying golfers won their places at the Egypt National Final 2016, which will take place at the Soma Bay Golf Club, on the 21st and 22nd of May.

The winners of the national final will be qualified to the tournament's world final in Stuttgart, Germany.

Sponsored by Lufthansa and Soma Bay, the MercedesTrophy final qualifier witnessed terrific performances on the course combined with lots of memorable experiences, The first three winners in division A were (Shams Rafaat, Teymour Abou El Kheir, Mohamed Aboul Fadl) as for Division B, (Wolfgang Fischer, Jim Sallay, Ahmed Akl) and finally for Division C the winners were (Mohamed Zul Fadhli, Mohamed Abou El Atta, Tarek Sabry).

After a captivating end to the qualifying rounds, the top three winners of each of the qualifying rounds were congratulated and awarded prizes at an enthralling ceremony followed by a gala lunch for all the competition.

The MercedesTrophy national final which will take place over the course of 2 days, will include a practice round for all competitors and golfing companions, the ‘Drive to the Major’ competition and the national final tournament on Saturday.

This year’s Drive to the Major winner will receive VIP access to the 2016 Open Championship to be played at Royal Troon in Scotland 13-18 July 2016, as well as the opportunity to represent Mercedes-Benz and play in the prestigious Monday Sponsors event.
