AUH CLASS VICTORY AT 24 HOURS OF DUBAI

AUH Motorsports, a newly formed race team based in Abu Dhabi, roared to a class victory at the 24 hours of Dubai race on Saturday.

Driving an Aston Martin Vantage GT4, UAE National driver Humaid Al Masaood, UAE-based British driver Michael Prophet and French driver Eric Charles, and British driver Alex Kapadia powered to victory in the tightly contested SP3 class in a thrilling race which saw eighty cars take to the track for the fifth year of this popular endurance event.

Battling fatigue and soaring temperatures, the AUH Motorsports drivers drove an exciting race to clinch victory after completing 2,814 kilometres of the circuit at the Dubai Autodrome.

The 24 hours of Dubai was AUH Motorsports’ 24 hour endurance racing debut. AUH Motorsports has already seen great success in Radical racing; winning theSR3 class in the 2009 European Radical Championship in their debut season.

This class win at the 24 hours of Dubai will be the team’s first step towards a European campaign in the FIA GT4 Championship and selected European 24 Hour races.

Carl Rolaston, Team Principal and Chief Executive of AUH Motorsports commented; “This is a fantastic moment for our team. To win on home turf in the 24 Hours of Dubai is a dream come true. Our drivers put in a great show and the team was superb throughout a challenging event for everyone. Being on the top of the podium is reward for the team’s hard work and is a big boost for UAE motorsport.”

Poll

How do you evaluate the official Volkswagen importer and its service center in Egypt?
  • Very bad. Volkswagen needs a new representative in Egypt, preferably Dogus Auto from Turkey which was official VW Nutzfahrzeuge dealer in Egypt once before.
  • Bad. Volkswagen needs a new representative in Egypt, preferably a new importer from the Gulf region.
  • Average. But Volkswagen still needs a new 'Egyptian' representative or importer in Egypt.
  • Good. Egyptian Automotive Company and Karim El Naggar are doing a good job. Everything should stay the same.
