Yamaha's Ride for Life from Paris to Marrakech
This one-of-a-kind adventure will see five Super Ténérés complete the trip from Paris, all the way to North Africa, where the bikes will then be donated to the Riders for Health organisation. Initially ridden to Lisbon from Paris by a number of European journalists, the selected riders, guided by Yamaha Dakar star Helder Rodrigues (who finished 4th in Dakar 2010), will then ride from the Portuguese capital down to the North African coast and through Morocco – finishing in the exotic and ancient city of Marrakech, where Riders for Health will receive the five Yamaha Adventure bikes.
During the five day ride, the special Ride for Life 2010 site (http://rideforlife.super-tenere.com/) will be regularly updated with news, photos and videos from the day’s events.
Jonathan Geoffrey of Richmond, Surrey, has become one of the lucky seven to be chosen to deliver new version of the Super Ténéré to the Riders organisation.
He owns a highly original and modified 1989 XTZ750 Super Ténéré on which he has done some big European trips so he is very much up for this adventure on the new incarnation of his favourite motorcycle.
One finding out that he had won this once in a lifetime opportunity, he said: ‘Initially I was in disbelief as I've never won anything before. Once I'd confirmed it by looking online, I was elated and on the phone calling all my mates to let them know my exciting news. Over the next few days it slowly sunk in what lies ahead and if anything, my excitement is growing as I learn more.’
Jonathan joins the group in Lisbon on the 11thMay, ready for his epic 5 day adventure as part of the Yamaha’s Ride for Life 2010.
