Recall: Ferrari F355 might catch fire - Exchange of Fuel distributor
According to media reports, Ferrari sent out a customer's letters this month informing its clients about a technical defect of the fuel-connection-tube leading to the distributor-block, which in return might cause a leakage of fuel, and therefore lead to smoke or in worst cases even to a fire. Another abnormal thing would be a malfunction of the engine, according to Ferrari's customer letter.
In Germany this recall was handled as an official recall conducted through the Federal Motoring Vehicle Authority, which was approached by Ferrari in order to provide them with the addresses of all Ferrari F355 owners in Germany. Ferrari asked for the addresses of the owners in order to contact them
for the 'rectification of a defect which might be hazardous for the road safety'. On the 30th of June 2009 those addresses were delivered to Ferrari.
The exchange of the Fuel-distributor will of course be free of charge.
Effected worldwide are around 9000 F355 models, 2356 units alone in the USA and around 500 in Germany. No numbers were available for Egypt and the Middle East yet.
Over the past few months Ferrari had already recalled the Ferrari F430 Spider, the Ferrari 360 and the Ferrari 612 Scaglietti for other defects.
