Cars have always been the favorite toy of rock-stars and singers. The Scorpions are no exception, as the German hard rock band will do an acoustic live performance on stage exclusively for Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles in San Carlos de Bariloche (Argentina) on Saturday, Feburary 6th.
The new Volkswagen Amarok will be presented to journalists in the South American countryside from Feburary 1st – 12th. The musicians have lately announced that their upcoming world tour will bet their last tour.
Rudolf Schenker, founder of The Scorpions, already tested the new Volkswagen pick-up during the Dakar Rally. „We are really looking forward to perform in Argentina before our final tour starts“, singer Klaus Meine says. „And to drive the Volkswagen Amarok will surely be so much fun.”
Rudolf Schenker already drove the car about 1.500 kilometres through Chile and Argentina. His judgement: „The Volkswagen Amarok is Rock`n`Roll on four wheels.“
Now Klaus Meine, Matthias Jabs and Rudolf Schenker, management and crew members are heading to Argentina next week. The artists won´t just perform on stage, but will also drive the Volkswagen Amarok on offroad test tracks with journalists.
The Volkswagen Amarok is launched in South America, Russia, South Africa and Australia first and will be launched in Germany and Western Europe in summer as well.
Scorpions have produced 22 studio albums in th
e last 40 years, selling more than 100 million records and racking up around 100 gold and platinum discs. They are the most globally successful German group of all time. Scorpions have a particularly strong fan base in the USA, South America, Asia and Eastern Europe, where the big stadiums get sold out for their shows. In 2009 they received an “Echo” award for lifetime achievement. Bon Jovi, Metallica and many others once appeared as a support act for the Hanoverian rockers.
The new album of The Scorpions, „Sting in the Tail“, will be released in March.
There are no news yet about when the Amarok will be launched in the Middle East and North Africa. But it will surely 'rock' this segment when it arrives in this region.
