Auto legend Carroll Shelby dead at 89
Automotive legend Carroll Shelby (1923-2012) died last night at the Baylor Hospital in Dallas (USA) at the age of 89 years. After a successful career as a racing driver was shortened by his health condition, Shelby turned to auto manufacturing in the 1960s. He created the Cobra, an Anglo-American hot rod of crude conception but stunning effectiveness that swept the tracks of North America and Europe and wrested a world manufacturer's title from Italian car manufacturer Ferrari.
