Nissan & Infiniti pull out of Chicago and Detroit motor-shows
Nissan North America has decided not to participate in the annual Detroit and Chicago auto shows, explaining this with depressed economic conditions.
This decision adds Nissan and Infiniti brands onto the growing list of automakers that have already decided to skip out on the major Detroit motor-show 2009, which is considered one of the major international marketing events worldwide.
Also canceling its participation from the Detroit show in January are Mitsubishi, Suzuki, Land Rover, Rolls-Royce and Ferrari.
The Chicago auto show is scheduled to take place in February 2009.
Usually those two major motor-shows draw media attention to new products from all over the world, in addition to displaying the product line-ups to local consumers in the United States.
A Nissan corporate spokesman said the decision reflects the current state of the industry and not the Detroit and Chicago shows themselves.
In Egypt it is expected that several car companies will also pull out from the local motor-shows taking place in Cairo.
