Mercedes-Benz plant to shut down temporarily

Mercedes-Benz' plant in South Africa is planning to shut its East London production plant for four weeks in April and a further four weeks from the last week in May, Reuters has reported. The cutback endures the current economic pressures and has two days without production in March while another one is planned on April 3. This temporarily closures is similar to the one which Mercedes Benz Germany conducted at the end of 2008. Well-informed sources also told us that the Mercedes Benz assembly-line in Egypt (Egyptian German Automotive company EGA, owned by Sami Saad) has been closed several weeks since the economic and automotive crisis started months ago. But Mercedes Benz Egypt never announced that officially.
