Beijing Auto would build Opel in China and close Belgian factory


Beijing Auto wants to close the Opel factory in Belgium and slash European work force. About 3,000 job would be lost in Germany if BAIC plan wins. Beijing Automotive Industry Corp. (BAIC) plans to stop making cars at a Belgian factory and cut more than 7,000 jobs in Europe, if its 660 million euros ($923 million) bid for the German carmaker succeeds.
