Shell and Qatar Motor Show thrill audience with dazzling live Ferrari F1 street demonstration in Qatar, thanks to Q.media and BLJ

Ferrari, one of the most well-known automotive brands in the automotive and motor-sport field, joined hands with Shell Qatar to deliver one of the most anticipated street demonstrations in the Middle East region, since the last F1 Festival on the Abu Dhabi Corniche in the UAE back in January 2007.

And although Shell Middle East is not known for any local or regional motorsport engagement or young racing driver and talent development program yet, we hope that the recent engagement of Shell at the impressive Qatar Motor Show could be the starting point of such an engagement.

In partnership with Qatar Motor Show, Qatar Shell together with its F1-partner Ferrari thrilled motorsport fans in Qatar with a dazzling street demonstration where Scuderia Ferrari Formula One driver Marc Gen?© delivered an outstanding street demonstration to spectators and VIPs along the corniche of Doha.

Marc Gen?© entertained a thrilled audience driving a Ferrari Formula One car. In addition to his driving skills, he demonstrated the car’s power and outstanding performance – made possible in part thanks to Shell’s long-standing technical partnership with Ferrari.

Shell’s technical partnership with Scuderia Ferrari is one of the oldest and most successful partnerships in motorsport, supporting 12 Formula One Drivers’ World Championship Titles and 10 Formula One Constructors’ World Championship Titles since 1951.

The street demonstration was held ahead of the launch of the second international edition of Qatar Motor Show on 25 – 28 January, to create excitement around the event.

It is worth mentioning that Qatar Shell is the Diamond sponsor of the Qatar Motor Show.

“We are very excited about the Qatar Motor Show as the country is taking raising it to an international level. As a diamond sponsor of Qatar Motor Show, we brought in our technical partner Scuderia Ferrari to Doha to create additional excitement to the event, said Andy Brown, Executive Vice President Shell.

He added: “Shell is the largest foreign investor in Qatar. Together with Qatar Petroleum, we are delivering two of the largest and most innovative projects in the energy industry, clearly demonstrating our unique technological capabilities and competitiveness on a global scale. Pearl Gas to Liquids project is arguably the most innovative plant in the industry. We are very excited about the high quality fuels and liquid products from Pearl GTL which will deliver improved engine performance to millions of customers around the world.

Marc Gen?© remarked: “I really enjoyed the audience’s excitement at today’s street demonstration. Shell’s technical partnership with Ferrari provides Shell with the perfect test ground to test the performance of lubes and fuels under extreme conditions. Both Ferrari and Shell are always trying to achieve the very best in technology and innovation and normally of course we do this on a race track but the street demonstration is a great way to display this technology to more people.â€?

His Excellency Sheikh Al Hussain bin Ali bin Ahmad Al Thani, CEO of Q.media, one of the organizers of the Qatar Motor Show, commented on the significance of the event: “We worked very closely with the different partners to build and grow an international profile for the 2012 edition of Qatar Motor Show. We are very proud to have Qatar Shell as our Diamond Sponsor this year and appreciate its contribution to make the 2012 edition of the show a success. Bringing in racing legend Scuderia Ferrari ahead of the event is a great publicity opportunity for Qatar Motor Show. It was a great pleasure to see thousands of
people thronging to corniche to be part of it.

In addition to that, Q.media’s PR agency Brown-Lloyd-James and its team around Kimberly Mathern, Bilal Emad and Mohammed Shafiq made sure that all media activities were taken care of and that any media inquiry and request were answered promptly.

Shell invests 21,000 man hours of research and development per year into its program with Ferrari. Over 50 Shell technical staff work with Ferrari based in Shell technical facilities in the UK, Germany and in Maranello.

Over 60 years of shared passion for performance with Scuderia Ferrari has seen the creation and continuous advancement of Shell V-Power premium fuels and Shell Helix premium lubricants. Shell has a database of approximately 13,000 lubricant samples from Scuderia Ferrari, used on daily basis to aid product development for race and road.
