Volkswagen biggest car manufacturer ahead of GM and Toyota.

German car manufacturer Volkswagen became the No.1 car manufacturer in 2011 with 8.44 Mio assembled cars, ahead of General Motors (8,08 Mio) and Toyota 7.62 (Mio). The fourth largest car manufacturer was Hyundai (7,38 Mio cars) ahead of Renault-Nissan with 7.1 Mio cars. Earlier this year General Motors claimed to have regained the ‘Number 1 car manufacturer’ status, by adding other non-General Motors brands resulting from foreign minority-shares joint-ventures. General Motors had added the number of assembled ‘Wuling’ cars, which is a joint-venture between General Motors and its Chinese partner SAIC and therefore, for some strange reason, claimed to be the number 1 car manufacturer.
