Five Stars for Mazda6 in Euro NCAP Safety Test

Hiroshima-Cairo-Dubai /

The road death rates in Egypt and the Middle East are among the highest world-wide. Therefore it is good to hear that the Mazda, one of the most popular brands in the region, has received five starts for the Mazda6 in the Euro NCAP Safety and Crash Test
Mazda Motor Corporation has announced that the new Mazda6 has just been awarded the five-star maximum rating by the European New Car Assessment Programme (Euro NCAP) in its 2009 combined safety performance test.

For 2009, Euro NCAP has implemented a new assessment system that awards a single overall vehicle safety rating composed from scores achieved in four areas of assessment: Adult Occupant Protection, Child Protection, Pedestrian Protection and Safety Assist. The Mazda6 is Mazda’s first model tested under the revised evaluation framework, which makes the five-star result all the more impressive.

Seita Kanai, Mazda’s Senior Managing Executive Officer in charge of R&D, said “Mazda6’s maximum safety rating from Euro NCAP is a reflection of the progress Mazda has made in harmonizing driving pleasure with safety and environmental performance under the ‘Sustainable Zoom-Zoom’ plan. Going forward, Mazda will strive to fulfil our corporate social responsibilities by further advancing our eco-friendly and safety technologies.”

Other Mazda models that have received five star ratings in Euro NCAP tests include the Mazda5 in September 2005 and the Mazda2 in December 2007. Both received the highest score for Adult Occupant
Protection.

Let’s hope that the Middle Eastern countries will take such safety results and safety features into consideration, while starting to promote such safe cars and at the same time grant such safe cars different benefits in terms of tax or customs reductions.

How do you evaluate the official Volkswagen importer and its service center in Egypt?
  • Very bad. Volkswagen needs a new representative in Egypt, preferably Dogus Auto from Turkey which was official VW Nutzfahrzeuge dealer in Egypt once before.
  • Bad. Volkswagen needs a new representative in Egypt, preferably a new importer from the Gulf region.
  • Average. But Volkswagen still needs a new 'Egyptian' representative or importer in Egypt.
  • Good. Egyptian Automotive Company and Karim El Naggar are doing a good job. Everything should stay the same.
