De Tomaso SLS: Comeback of a crossover study at Geneva Motor Show
De Tomaso will present at the 2011 International Motor Show in Geneva (3.3.-13.3.2011) a new car, namely the SLS. The legendary Italian car manufacturer, who was formerly focusing on sports and luxury cars, has plans to enter the crossover segment with its new SLS model (Sport Luxury Sedan).
The all-wheel drive SLS model shows common design lines which could be traced back to the Aston Martin Lagonda and the BMW 5 GT.
This SLS model (no further details about the car name available) will be available with two petrol engines, one of them a 550 hp-V8 engine in addition to a 300 hp-strong V6.
De Tomaso plans to produce 3000 cars at the former Pininfarina manufacturing plant located in Livorno (Italy). A limousine and a coupe are also planned to be sold beside the crossover, and are all based on a special aluminum technology.
Although De Tomaso is quite well-known in Europe in the USA, the brand is almost unknown in the Middle East and North Africa region. But with such a good-looking cross-over model, which might appeal very well to the taste of the Middle Eastern customers, this might change soon.
